Ezekiel 10:8 says, And there appeared in the cherubims the form of a man's hand under their wings. Ezekiel said there then appeared to be what was a man's hand under the wings of the cherubim. This represented the presence of God’s glory that was now going to be seen in His wrath towards His rebellious chosen people. It was not enough to be God’s people in name only, but since there was no real relationship with Him, they were going to be destroyed because of their disobedience. I believe that if we have truly accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord that even if we sin afterwards, we are forever a part of His people, but most of the people of Israel and Judah had never put their faith in God but had looked to other gods for redemption. Being a member of a church does not save us. We can only be saved by having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.
Verse nine adds, And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the colour of a beryl stone. Then, Ezekiel spoke of the reappearance of the wheels, one by each of the four cherubim. He said the color of the wheels was beryl. This is once more a representation of the glory of God and His control over His creation. We have to accept by faith that God is Who He says He is and then we will begin to see His glory shining all around us.
Verse ten continues, And as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel. These four living creatures had the appearance of one or were united in purpose under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We as Christians should be united in purpose, wherever we are in the world, and that is to bring honor and glory to God.
Verse eleven states, When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went. Ezekiel said the four went without turning aside, but they went where the head looked. I believe they were guided by the Holy Spirit in where they were to go, and so should we be as followers of Christ today. Whatever difficulties lay ahead of them, they did not turn aside from their appointed path, and neither should we.
Verse twelve adds, And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had. Ezekiel said that their whole body, backs, hands, wing and the wheels were full of eyes, which I believe would represent God’s ability to see everything that is going on all around us.
