2 Chronicles 5:11 says, And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place: (for all the priests that were present were sanctified, and did not then wait by course: The priests who were sanctified went into the holy place first, not waitng for it to be their turn to do so. The Ark needed to be placed in the holy of holies as soon as possible, and there would be time to set the schedule for the priests to enter later. Of course, any time we come before the Lord, we need to come as spiritually pure as we can. Fortunately, we are not limited in the time that we can come to Jesus Christ in worship or in need. Verse twelve adds, Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:) They also came with singing and music praising God when they placed the Ark of the Covenant in the temple. When we gather to worship God today, we need to come singing and making music to praise Him. Verse thirteen continues, It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; Those playing the trumpets and singing were united in their worship to the point that the sounded as if they were one. We need that same unity in worship. Too often, we just sit silently while songs are being sung in church, but even if we don't think we are the best of singer, we can make a joyful noise. If someone has a problem with it, that is their problem and not ours. When they did this, the cloud that represented God filled the house. We need spirit filled church buildings today, and if we are truly worshipping God, I believe they will be. Verse fourteen concludes, So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God. The cloud was so great that the priests couldn't stand to minister, because the glory of the Lord had filled the house. If this happened in church today, we might get upset because it interrupted our beautifully planned service, but I hope not. I do believe that when true worship breaks out that the Holy Spirit will fill the building.
