Ezekiel 48:9 says, The oblation that ye shall offer unto the Lord shall be of five and twenty thousand in length, and of ten thousand in breadth. After specifying the distribution of the land to the north of the temple, God once more specified the area to be set aside for the temple and the use of the priests. As Christians, we are all a part of the priesthood of believers and we worship through faith in Jesus Christ, Who replaced the physical temple when He died for our sins.
Verse ten adds, And for them, even for the priests, shall be this holy oblation; toward the north five and twenty thousand in length, and toward the west ten thousand in breadth, and toward the east ten thousand in breadth, and toward the south five and twenty thousand in length: and the sanctuary of the Lord shall be in the midst thereof. Here it is repeated that this land would be set aside for the priests and the temple. The land was actually for the temple, but the priests were allowed to live there in order to maintain the temple and offer the sacrifices to God. As followers of Christ, everything we have belongs to God, but when we put our faith in Him, we are given the right and the responsibility to use and care for His land.
Verse eleven continues, It shall be for the priests that are sanctified of the sons of Zadok; which have kept my charge, which went not astray when the children of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray. This land would be for the priests who had not gone astray during the captivity. As Christians, we have all gone astray, but we put our faith in the High Priest, Jesus Christ, Who never did.
Verse twelve concludes, And this oblation of the land that is offered shall be unto them a thing most holy by the border of the Levites. God said that this area of the temple was to be an area considered to be most holy. When we are in the presence of Jesus Christ, which by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is at all times, we should consider anywhere we are to be a place most Holy.
