Isaiah 5:26

Isaiah 5:26 says,, And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:  This verse applies to the coming defeat of the nation of Israel by other peopleThis happened not because God was empowering the other people necessarily, but it happened because God removed His protective hand from the people of IsraelThese enemies might have remained far off when God was providing His protection to the people of Israel, but once they stopped obeying Him, they no longer had His protection.   Then, other nations no longer feared themAs Christians, if we want God’s protection in this world, we have to be obedient to the leadership of the Holy SpiritIf we aren’t, we fall under the power of sin once more.

Verse twenty-seven adds, None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:  Isaiah said those who were coming in battle against the people of Israel would not tire out and go awayThese enemies might have come from far away, but that would not weaken their desire and ability to defeat the people of IsraelSatan and His forces are not going to tire out today as they try to destroy God’s people and to keep those who haven’t accepted His gift of salvation from coming to God by faith.

Verse twenty-eight continues, Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses' hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:  Isaiah said these enemies were going to be well equipped for warWe know that many of the enemies of Christianity today are armed with powerful instruments of war, but we can also be certain that no matter what happens in the battle between evil and God, even if the evil seems to have all the power, they have already lost the warThis is why we as followers of Christ should never give in to them out of fear.

Verse twenty-nine says, Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.  Isaiah continues to speak about the power of the army that is coming to destroy IsraelHe compares them not just to a lion, but to a young lion who would be full of energyThe Bible tells us that Satan is like a roaring lion in the world, seeking those that He can destroy by keeping them away from God’s gift of salvationOur spiritual enemies are real today, but we need not fear the as long as we remain faithful to God.

Verse thirty adds, And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.  Isaiah also stated that when this enemy came, they would be like a roaring sea and cut the people of Israel off from the lightJesus Christ is the Light of the world, and if we are to be saved, we cannot allow anything or anyone, no matter how powerful they may be, to cut us off from His light.
