Nehemiah 7:68

Nehemiah 7:68 says, Their horses, seven hundred thirty and six: their mules, two hundred forty and five:  We now have an account of some of their animals.  The people brought some of their possessions with them to be numbered, and we today are to bring all that we have to God and have it numbered as His possessionGod already owns it all, but he allows us to use it to bring about His glory

Verse sixty-nine adds, Their camels, four hundred thirty and five: six thousand seven hundred and twenty asses.  This is just a continuation of the numbering of some of the other animals

Verse seventy continues, And some of the chief of the fathers gave unto the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basons, five hundred and thirty priests' garments.  Some of those in power or leadership also gave money and other needed things to the treasury to be used in the work of the work of GodWe need to dedicate everything we have to God for His useI know we hear about bringing the tithe into the storehouse, but I believe that we are to use everything God blesses us with for His honor and glory

Verse seventy-one states, And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the treasure of the work twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pound of silver.  We have a continuation of the offerings the other chief fathers broughtWe need to all be involved in doing God’s work, but it is nice if those in charge are willing to contribute to the work.

Verse seventy-two adds, And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pound of silver, and threescore and seven priests' garments.  The other people who were not in positions of leadership also brought gifts of gold and silver as well as priest’s garmentsWe need to make sure that we support the leaders in the church today as they supported the priests then.

Verse seventy-three continues, So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities. The people, from those in charge of the worship service on down, then lived in their citiesWe should worship and serve God wherever we live.
